You might want to take in this fun weekend of ‘Plus’ square dancing with some higher level Round dances, on July 17th & 18th, 2015.
It was a nice touch to see a shaded and lawned parking area where you could park your RV for $5 per night, right next to the Grange hall where the dancing took place.
Friday afternoon started out with a Plus workshop. Then at 7:30 pre-rounds, mostly high level, started until 8:00 leaving you lots of time to enjoy your dinner. Plus square dancing started at 8 pm with a large jar of yummy chocolates sitting at the sign-in table! Two rounds were cued between square dance tips, a little different from our ‘Canadian way’ of just one round between tips.
John Corrigan of Delta, BC & Steve Noseck of Puyallup, WA (35 miles S. of Seattle) were the callers for the weekend. They kept the dances lively and interesting. Bob (Linda) Berka was the
cuer for the weekend. They cue regularly for the Fidalgo Fogcutters Square Dance Club at the Skagit Valley Grange, located in Sedro Woolley, WA.
Sandy & Merv Meyer attended this weekend in mid-July at the urging of Bud & Jill Schaffer, who attended last year. The four of them were happy to meet up with Canadian friends Dave & Pat
Raleigh and Janet & Roger Purser. They also met lots of old friends, and made new ones, at the Hoedown.
For those who were keen to take in the whole weekend ‘package’ there was a Round Dance Workshop on Saturday afternoon, followed by a ‘Plus’ Workshop. A Potluck supper at 5 p.m. took place in the upstairs of the dance hall. Many dancers gathered for a wonderful variety of food and had a chance to get some visiting in.
Saturday evening started with pre-rounds once again from 7:30 – 8, then ‘Plus’ dancing with 2 rounds between tips. Before you knew it, the weekend was over.
We said good-bye to newly made friends with a goal to get together soon. It was a very economical fun enhanced weekend………for the ‘Early Birds Full Package’, which included all dances & workshops, it is only $28 U.S. per person, plus the $5 per night if you wanted to park your RV there on the grassy lot.
