Meet the Cuer
Merv Meyer
Merv started dancing in September 1982 but didn’t take up
calling until January 1999. He regularly calls and/or teaches three or
four times a week from September through April. If that doesn’t keep him
busy enough he also calls for special dances and events. You could find
him in Chase and Kamloops one week, then the South Cariboo or Yukon the
next.
Merv has called for various clubs such as the Chase Square Dancers,
Ashcroft Cactus Squares, Kamloops Square Dancers and, of course, the
Thompson Valley Stars. Merv is a frequent guest caller for party nights
for various clubs. He can be found at “Chase The Fun” Weekend dance or at BC Festival & most club party dances
Sandy Meyer
Sandy loves to dance and you will often find her twirling in
lovely costumes at local and out-of-town events. She encourages new
dancers to have fun while learning how to square dance. Sandy is always
ready with a smile, a helping hand and a hug.
Although she has been dancing since September 1978, cueing has
become Sandy’s passion since she started cuing in 2009. She regularly
cues in Kamloops and Chase as well as other clubs throughout the
Thompson-Shuswap region. Wherever she may travel, Sandy has been
welcomed to cue and do singing calls, including duets with her husband,
Merv.
By the way, Sandy also plays drum!
